Audrey Turns Two!

One thing that happens right after Christmas, is that my Audrey has a birthday. So excited that this little being has come into our home. I do feel for her though. With Christmas being so close to her birthday, it's hard to not to feel like that for her, it is Christmas part two. I hope it will feel less like this as she grows up, but for now, we will savor this little girl for as long as we can!
Her special day started with pancakes shaped like number twos.
I also like to help my kids feel like their day is special from the get go, so we also have a tradition that they get a new shirt to wear on their birthdays. I got this one for Audrey on clearance at Target. She looked so grown up in it!



We had a family party with just us. I am liking these close family parties. The kids are not so overwhelmed by lots of people, and they can just be themselves.

So much so, that we couldn't get her to open anything else.



Grant was just as interested in Audrey's presents even more than Audrey was:


This alphabet train is such a cute toy for them. It teaches them their letters and sings, all the while they can even ride on it. They are having soooo much fun with this toy.




Notice Audrey's shoes. She loves her pretty shiny church shoes, and got these new black ones for her birthday. She had to put them on right away. This girl loves her shoes...she also loves to take them off!
We had a funfetti cake for Audrey. It looks like is partly on fire in the picture, but it really wasn't!


I love this thoughtful expression on Audrey. She looks like she doesn't quite know where to begin on eating her giant piece of cake.






So she just shoved a bite in. That's my girl!








The kids are way into Mickey Mouse so we had some Mickey Mouse party things for Audrey. I love these Mickey Mouse ears, and James was a good sport to wear them! We couldn't get Audrey to want to wear hers, which is funny, because on Halloween, that's all she wanted to do was put on the ears. She wouldn't put on either:






This lasted for a few seconds. Oh well!










I think the kids had a great time at our little family party. We love you, Audrey!

A Killpack Christmas

Christmas at the Killpack household was such a fun time this year. Grant is three and Audrey is just shy of two. We had fun on Christmas Eve making Santa Claus masks:

Grant actually cut out his triangle and pasted his cotton balls on. No interest at all about putting it up to his face.

Audrey on the other hand:

Couldn't.




Get.



Enough.

Our favorite Christmas activities this year included reading 'Twas The Night Before Christmas. Every single night.

Listening to Christmas music on the ipod.

Watching Mickey Mouse Christmas Carol and Charlie Brown Christmas over and over. I do have to say though that Mickey Mouse received a lot more play than Charlie Brown.

We made Christmas Cookies together.

And then Audrey put her hand in most of them and ruined them.

She managed to miss just enough to give our neighbors a handful.

Absolutely had to take pics in their new pajamas for Christmas.

Grant's last day of wearing diapers was Christmas Day. He was in the process of potty training the day after Christmas.

And fully trained six days later.

Christmas morning brought excited little ones:

Santa had set out a Mickey Mouse for Grant and a Minnie Mouse for Audrey. That is all he could have brought, and they would have been just fine. James and I had to gather them back up to come and open the rest. They were soooo very excited about their Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

But content!

Since Christmas was on a Sunday this year, and our church starts at nine, we got the kids ready first, and managed to eat Christmas breakfast before heading out. Since our tree was in our basement, we could pull this off. Must say, that I liked the reminder of Christ's birthday early in the day. It put a nice feeling in my heart that stayed there, and didn't leave in the midst of all the Christmas hoopla.

My Audrey is loving stuffed animals, and has to have them as a constant companion. This is a recent development. She has been doing this for about a month now. The night before I put her to bed before this picture, she had to go to bed with this giraffe, and this teddy bear. They are not new-we got the giraffe at Hogle Zoo the year before, and the bear from my doctor's off ice when she was born. When I got her up the next morning, we grabbed the giraffe, and started heading toward the kitchen for breakfast, when she said, "bear, bear!" So we had to grab both and eat with them both. Too fun! I am glad my little girl is finally able to enjoy the things that surround her!

Halloween Shindig

Our wonderful 1st ward did a great job, yet again, with the Halloween Carnival this year. Typical chili dinner, as always, followed by tons of fun for kids. Grant and Audrey did great this year. We were able to stay longer than an hour, and the kids played the games and did well.



















Probably the favorite game of the night, was this "Snack Walk." The kids had to walk in a circle on numbers 1-10. when the music stopped, they pulled a number out of a bag, and if you had that number you got a prize. We played this several times. The snack was a healthy one, so this one wasn't the most popular one to be at, which was great for us, since Grant and Audrey don't take to lines too well!



















We needed a break mid-party, so the kids were content to get away from it all and just play on the stairs, which led to the stage. Grant couldn't get enough of being on the stage, so that is where he spent his time while the carnival was being set up.









One of the prizes was squishy balls. Audrey was too funny. The game was the bean bag throw, and she just walked right up to the board, put it in, and went right for the balls. She was very particular about choosing one, before finally settling on the soccer ball. Then she couldn't stop making her way over to that station time and again to pick out a new ball.











Another fun game they had was Glow-in-the-dark Golf. They gave the kids
Glow-in-the-dark sticks, which the kids loved.

















Another awesome thing this year, is that it seemed like there wasn't as many people there. James reminded me that the singles branch was not there this time because we had a boundary change, and they now go to a different building. It was a lot of fun!

We had a great Halloween!
We took the kids trick-or-treating on Halloween night and James and I had a great time taking the kids around town. The weather was absolutely perfect. A slight breeze, and all that was needed was a light jacket. Grant got the hang of it really quick. He was great at knocking on the door, and saying "tick, teat," although not always with perfect timing. The kids ended up eith quite the loot. One house was even giving out dollar bills, with a handful of candy!

Silly Kids

My little Audrey loves to lay her whole body down on one stair, and Grant likes to climb over. One of the funny silly games they play. Silly kids!
